What Every Entrepreneur Can Learn from Politicians [Video]

I was reflecting recently on what politics and entrepreneurship have in common.

There’s more to it than you think. John Corcoran, small business attorney, small business lawyer, blogger, lawyer, entrepreneur

I realized that entrepreneurs actually can learn a lot from politicians.

If you know about my background, then you’re probably not surprised I’m drawing this comparison.

I spent the first part of my career working for politicians. So maybe I’m crazy in drawing lines between politics and entrepreneurship. If so, I hope you will tell me  in the comments below.

I figured the quickest way to summarize my thoughts on this topic would be to record a short video. So here it is. Check it out, and please leave a comment at the bottom of this post if you agree or disagree!

    Hi John,

I totally agree. I have a problem with the “shiny object syndrome” where I chase some new idea for a few weeks, then lose interest. I need to get more disciplined about not doing that. Thanks for the reminder. – Ann

    Hi John:

That’s amazing that you turned down the chance of becoming a baseball agent. I’d love to be a NFL agent but it’s too difficult to get certified. You have to be working for an existing agency that has good players. But turning it down because it’s not along the lines of your goals is not easy to do.

You should totally become a IRS agent! That’s really worse than being a lawyer or a politician – at least as a lawyer, you can help some people.

Hey Jorge – Yeah, I’d love to be a NFL agent as well. Football was my first love, so if I had a chance to do that, I’m not sure I could resist!
